World record breaking Usain Bolt along with his fellow Jamaican athletic stars will be living and training at the University of Birmingham. After the city’s cultural flavour and infrastructure won over Caribbean sports directors who picked the city over places such as Amsterdam, Cardiff, Berlin and Lougborough.

President of the Jamica athletic association, Howard Aris said: After evaluating everything and looking at all the various elements we decided that this would be the correct place for us so we are very excited to be here to sign the agreement formalising it.

“What we decided to do was look at exactly what were the various physical infrastructures in place, the type of support structures like the medical team and the availability of some sort of Caribbean and Jamaican culture which would create the atmosphere of calm and camaraderie that the athletes would need in their preparation.”

Birmingham will also be host city in 2012 to Team USA who we based in the city for the London 2012 Olympics.
