A Birmingham woman has been arrested by West Midlands Police in connection with her three year old daughter’s mysterious death.

The little girl’s body was discovered at the family’s home on Milverton road in Erdington on Saturday around 5:30pm. Although the cause of the girl’s death remains unknown, a police spokeswoman told the Birmingham Mail that a hazardous substance was found in the property and the newspaper reported that the child had “Injuries consistent to being burned with acid.” Forensics teams are now frantically working to see if the substance has any connection with the toddler’s death.

Many people who live on the road have received visits from detectives who are searching the neighbourhood for corrosive chemicals, including the near by reservoir.

When questioned if he had any harmful chemicals inside his home, one near by neighbour said: Just bleach” but police replied “We are looking for something much stronger than that.”

Chief Inspector Mark Payne described the toddler’s death as suspicious and said: “Forensic experts and local officers are working together to establish how the girl died and who is responsible. We are working together with the local community who have been shocked and distressed by this girl’s death.”

Flowers surround a tree outside of the child’s home along with the message “Rest In Peace Little Angel” a message that clearly anchors a communities mourning.
