WeedLaston100x100A CANNABIS factory was found in little Aston worth to valued at approx £250,000 . . . No, not Aston B6 – Little Aston in the upper class areas of the Midlands where all the footballers and rich folk live – and before you ask “No footballers were involved” (Surprise, surprise!) Police revealed the drugs busts of 3 cannabis factories in total, prevented £500,000 (Half a £million) worth of weed from hitting the streets of the West Midlands – double what they originally estimated.

The main weed house was found in a gated seven bedroom mansion in Roman Road, nicknamed Millionaires Road in Little Aston. Neighbours were horrified to find out these things were happening in the road where property prices routinely top £1 million.

Weed plants being grown in the propertySixteen people, five women and 11 men and all believed to be Vietnamese, were due before Walsall magistrates today charged with conspiracy to cultivate cannabis. Another man was released on bail pending further inquiries. It’s funny that weed is always related to Black and inner city areas – but now it seems that the largest cannibus raid to date in 2010 has been against Vietnamese – and in posh Little Aston.

Police said several rooms at the Roman Road property contained plants in various stages of growth. The cannabis factory was one of three uncovered in swoops on Tuesday by 50 officers led by Walsall’s Proactive Crime Unit. Walsall seems to have a large amount of weed factories, as this is one of many found in the in the Walsall area in the last 6 months.

Det Chief Insp Neil Evans, of Walsall police, said the plants were in the early stage of cultivation and it was believed the factory had not been in operation long.

“This was part of intelligence gathered from previous raids and from the public. We believe the addresses raided were linked. We expect to make further arrests in due course.”

Stolen electricity used to grow the Ganja plantsBut what does the drug bust mean to the weed smoking heads from Birmingham and the Midlands – Does this mean that the price of weed will be going up? Will you be getting less for your £10? Thanks to this raid, it means even getting high will be affected in this recession time. LOL!

This is a significant bust for West Midlands Police as they continue their battle to beat drug related crime in the West Midlands.
