She was found face down in a pool of blood after she had left her house to go to a party. The young woman died from a single stab wound to the neck, post-mortem tests have shown.

Aliza Ahmed Mirza, of Landsdowne Road, Ilford – a sixth form student – was found in Forest View Road, Manor Park, on Saturday evening. She died in hospital. Relatives described Aliza Mirza as a brilliant girl with a bright future.

Last night police were questioning what wa thought to be the young woman’s 17-year-old ex-boyfriend and his 45 year aged father on suspicion of murder and plotting to kill.

Two women, one 41 and the other aged 20, belived to be the mother and sister of the ex-boyfriend, were also being questioned with another man, aged 42, over an alleged plot to kill the young woman.

Aliza’s uncle, Ahmed Munir, 52, said: ‘Every day you hear of these new knifings and stabbings. It has to come to an end.’

The emergency services were called to a street in Manor Park where Aliza had collapsed but she was declared dead at Whipps Cross Hospital. Her family dashed to see her in hospital but she was dead before they arrived.

Aliza’s father, Munir, 50, said the last he saw of his daughter was when she asked to borrow money to buy her friend a present before the party.

Mr Mirza said: ‘She was a diamond. She was pretty, intelligent, she had very bright future. She was a brilliant girl and she had all the qualities that a daughter should have.

‘We have such good memories of her and we cherish those memories.

‘I don’t know who committed this crime. Whoever did this should get punishment from the courts. Whoever did it did a terrible crime.’

He added that his wife, Nasreen, was devastated, adding: ‘She hasn’t stopped crying since it happened.’

A witness who saw Aliza’s body in Manor Park, East London, spoke to the sun newspaper and said: “She was lying face down on the pavement and her hair was covering her face. There was so much blood.”

A neighbour said: “I heard screaming but thought it was kids messing around.”

Paramedics battled in vain to resuscitate Aliza at the scene, but failed. The teenager, from nearby Ilford, was taken to hospital and pronounced dead.

Police were conducting a fingertip search of the street. Bloodstains and glass could be seen outside a block of flats close by.

A spokesperson said officers were keeping “an open mind” as to the motive for the killing.

The horror follows the death of Sofyen Belamouaddin, 15 – stabbed at Victoria station during a gang fight in front of rush-hour commuters on March 25.

Two days earlier, promising footballer Godwin Lawson, 17, was murdered by knife thugs in Hackney, East London.

In 2008 29 teens were murdered in the capital.
