Agnes100x100190420102Police are continuing to question two men arrested on suspicion of murder after a teenage girl was shot in the neck at a takeaway restaurant in East London.

Beautiful Agnes Sina-Inakoju known locally as Aggie, was waiting for food with friends in East London fast food outlet Hoxton Chicken & Pizza in Hackney, when two youths rode up on mountain bikes and fired through the shop window killing Agnes.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said two men, aged 21 and 16, were arrested on Friday evening in connection with her murder.

It is believed that Agnes was not the intended target and that her murderers had intended to kill one of the people in her group as part of an on-going gang war in East London between rival crews over drugs. The ongoing war between is Hoxton Boys and Highbury Fields. Word outta street is dat they are waring over weed (Cannabis sales). No one is really speaking with the press in the area about the crews on-going war; perhaps through fear or maybe apathy.

Agnes was a very popular girl at school and she knew lots of people. The bright student was to take her GCSEs in a few weeks’ time. A Facebook memorial group/wall has been set up for her and has nearly 6,000 people in the group. People have left messages, but the group has been plagued by racist morons who have left disrespectful messages. The murder is not thought to be race related. Below is a video created for Aggie by one of her friends:

DCI John Crossley who is leading the investigation said: “At this early stage, we believe two males approached the premises on mountain bikes

“One fired a shot through the window, hitting the victim who was inside the premises with friends.

“The suspects are described as black and aged between 14-18 years, and both were wearing dark clothing.”

The shooter is described as dark-skinned black, aged in his late teens, of slim build and wearing dark clothing. His accomplice is described as Mixed-race/Mediterranean, aged in his late teens, of chubby build and wearing dark clothing.

Hoxton Chicken in HackneyAgnes suffered a gunshot wound to her neck and was taken by ambulance to the Royal London hospital where her family kept a bedside vigil. She died at 5.30am on Friday morning.

At the scene there are a number of flowers and memorials, including notes, cards and writing on walls. People broke down in tears at the site where the schoolgirl lost her life. There is total sadness at the shrine and “Love Is the Answer” scrawled in marker pen on the wall of the shop.

Surprisingly it’s been reported that although people are sad at the death  of Agnus, there isn’t the outrage that you would, indeed should, expect at the shooting dead of a 16 year-old girl. It is now something that is no longer surprising to people in the area – It was to be expected.

The Indepent newspaper writes: People slowed at the chicken shop yesterday, shook their heads and muttered “so sad” and moved on to continue their shopping and their lives. They were saddened, not sickened: it is a tragedy, but not the last.

Agnes death mirrors a similar incident that took place on New Years Day 2003 in Birmingham, when two girls were shot down outside a party. The murders of Letisha and Charlene, aged 17 and 18, were the result of a violent feud between the Johnson Crew and Burger Bar.

What is sickening and distressing it the total disrespect these gang members show for human life. These killers shoot first and ask questions after.

The attitudes of these killers is one that is very worrying for anyone living in these inner city areas. If you know, or are speaking to someone who is in a certain crew or gang it is likely that you could become involved in the on-going war through association. If you are seen speaking to someone from a particular crew, you are then labelled as a member of the gang or an associate.

Here is a typical attitude of these young people involved in a crew or gang:

“If you are part of another crew and you have killed someone I know, or bust after them, I’m gonna blast you when I get a chance to.

“Your life is of no value to me and I will murder you and anyone who’s with you because their life is also worthless. You, your life, your friends, your family . . . anyone that sides with you, don’t mean ‘nothing’ to me.

“If I know you know someone I have beef with, and I see you on ya own I’ll rob you or bad you up when I see you on road – It’s your own fault as you shouldn’t be hanging around with them.’

Young people need to be aware of who they hang around with, or who they speak with. Many of these young people went Junior or Secondary school together, but may not know that the person they are speaking to is part of a crew or gang.

agnes_Hoxton_SpeakOut19042010When speaking about Agnes murder, DCI John Crossley said: “Her family are understandably devastated by their loss and struggling to come to terms with the fact Agnes has had her young life cut short in such terrible circumstances.”

Agnes lived with her family on the De Beauvoir Estate in Hoxton, E.London. Agnes’ family said:

“About a week ago our lives were torn apart. All of us are still coming to terms with what happened on that Wednesday night and Agnes’ subsequent death on Friday morning.

“We are still asking questions: Who? Why? How? and What for? These questions will haunt us for the rest of our lives.

“Our questions can only be answered if the police are able to apprehend those who committed such a cowardice crime against our family. Our lives since then have been an emotional roller coaster.

“Agnes Olatoun Sina-Inakoju was a charismatic, ambitious, loving and caring girl who strove to keep others happy.

“She was recently part of the Jack Petchey Speak Out challenge and also involved in a project to improve children’s communication skills.

“Agnes and her friends had a great trip to Oxford University a week before her murder – not knowing that it was going to be her last trip.

“We need to be together now as a family and her siblings will have to accept they have to cope without their sister.

“We are appealing to you all to help us get the justice Agnes so rightly deserves. Please help us bring her murderer to justice.

“We appeal to anyone who knows anything about the murder of Agnes to come forward so as to prevent this from happening to another family.”

Agnes friend Racel Isoba at the scene of the murderRachel Isola, 16, was a close friend of Agnes and the two “did everything together”.

She told the Hacney Gazette: “Agnes was tall, beautiful and smart. She wanted to do everything, go to university, be a model, run in the Olympics and now she’s gone.

“She had the whole world in front of her and I can’t imagine life without her.”

Another memorial video is posted on Facebook and the message before it reads:
“It HURT me to make this video because we shouldn’t have to just ‘remember’ her: Videos and pictures of Aggy put together as a tribute to her life.
Aggy is probably tryna slap us all and cuss us out for crying and being so upset, you know what she’s like lol.
It’s so hard but we have to TRY our hardest to celebrate the happiness of her life, instead of mourn the tragedy of her death. We love you Agnes. I can’t stress that enough.
I will miss you little bear ♥ “

Whoever knows who pulled the trigger of the gun that killed innocent Agnes should search their soul then tell the police. It could be you, your brother, your sister, Mom or family member next time. Would you want people to talk if it was your family?

DCI John Crossley said: “At this stage I do not believe Agnes was the intended target; which makes this case all the more tragic.”

Police have appealed to anyone who feels they may be able to assist with this investigation to call the incident room 020 8733 4704 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
