A gunman understood to be a part of Burgers has been jailed and will be looking a long spell behind bars, after shooting a man in front of a number of party goers at a family birthday party in a Birmingham club.
Detectives believe that Dean Rowe blasted the man following a trivial dispute at the party on 30th September 2009. A small argument had broke out and Rowe went outside and returned blast the man in front of everyone at the party.
The 23-year-old pleaded guilty at Birmingham Crown Court to the attempted murder of a 22-year-old man and also possessing a 9mm firearm with intent to endanger life.
Rowe and his peeps had rushed the door at the private family party at the Function Suite, Moseley Road, Balsall Heath. But after what detectives believe was a trivial incident, it was reported that he reacted with extreme violence.
Prosecutor Michael Duck said he took the gun and opened fire on his victim at ‘close quarters’.
Police said CCTV showed party-goers, including women and children, scattering in terror as the gunshot rang out.
Det Sgt Richard Bridgeman said the victim had been left with serious long-term injuries.
When Dean Rowe was arrested 9 days later at his home in Perrott Street, Winson Green, Birmingham, he was still in possession of the 9mm pistil.
He is understood to be the half brother of Burger Bar Boy gang member Tobias Rowe.
Tobias Rowe, aged 27, was last month jailed indefinitely after being found guilty of a string of offences during the Lozells riots in October 2005. He had gone on the run but was arrested three years later – as he attended a secret birthday party in his honour.
Det Sgt one of the investigating officers, said: “Dean Rowe is a dangerous individual who has brought a loaded firearm to a family party.
“He now faces a lengthy prison sentence and another firearm has been taken off the streets.”
Rowe was remanded in custody for a pre-sentece report to be prepared on him on the Probation Service.
