Man shot in Sodom, Birmingham.

A man has been taken to hospital with serious chest injuries after a shooting in Birmingham. The shooting is believed to have taken place at approx 2.30pm today (Wednesday 19 May 2010).

The shooting took place in Gooch Street in the Highgate area and the scene was taped off by West Midlands Police.

The media have reported that the injured man was believed to be in his early 20s. The shooters fled the scene after the incident. Officers were continuing to make inquiries at the scene of the shooting.

Early talk on road is that the person that bust the shots, returned to blast an elder man after being robbed of a chain earlier in the day. This is a contradiction to what the press are reporting. More info will follow in due course.

This shooting took place nearly a year to the day after a shooting only metres away from the the incident, on 9 May 2009. A man was blasted in the chest outside Flex Fitness gym in Moseley Street, Highgate.

It is not thought that there is any connection between the 2 incidents.
