A man who tried to murder another man when he shot him on in a club in Mosley, Birmingham has been jailed for 16 years.

Mrs Justice Sharpe told Dean Rowe: “This was a terrible act of violence. You used a gun to shoot a man in a club crowded with innocent people. He escaped death by millimetres.

“Those who use guns in such circumstances must expect severe punishment.”

Rowe, 24, of Perrott Street, Winson Green, had previously admitted attempting to murder Michael Harris and possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life.

A group of men brought a gun into the club following an argument at a private birthday party. Rowe then took hold of the gun and when the victim, Mr Harris saw him with the weapon he turned his back. Rowe then fired and the bullet went through the victim’s right shoulder.

Mr Harris was rushed to hospital where it was discovered the bullet had passed through his right lung, causing it to collapse, and had also damaged his liver before lodging in his abdomen.
