British Muslims threat of Civil War

There will be civil war in Britain if Journalists continue to portray Muslims in a negative light, says a leading figure in Liverpool’s Islamic community.

Muslims living in the Northwest believe the constant negative coverage they receive in the media is helping fascist parties like the BNP to grow and prosper. Many of them are now worried that the nation’s newspapers are becoming a motorway for politicians to spread Islamophobia around the country.

According to Dr Awad, most Muslims living in the UK do not trust the media because they believe it is not only biased against Islam but ll religions. They share the belief that the media is run by atheists who don’t want religion to interfere with politics in this capitalist society. According to Mr Awad Muslim’s are now a target for racial hatred in this country due to a racist stereotype that has been created by western media.

Dr Awad, an Imam at the Al-Rahma Mosque in Toxteth and a Professor of Islamic studies, said: “The media has now created a stereotype of Muslims.

“Everyone thinks we are all terrorists but this is not the case. This is partly due to the individual behaviour of some Muslims who have been brainwashed and fuelled by hatred. They see Muslims killed back in their homeland and in Palestine and want revenge but we condemn this behaviour. This is not the way of Islam! This is against the policies of the Qur’an! But the media has lead people to believe this is what Islam is all about.”

Days after Mr Awad issued this statement, an American pastor created global controversy by planning to hold a “Burn a Koran day” on the anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks. Pastor Terry Jones’ actions not only sparked a tirade of anger in the Middle East, but also forced President Obama and Hillary Clinton to publicly apologise on behalf of the outspoken Pastor after threats of attacks to American and British troops in Afghanistan began to heighten.

Earlier this week, hundreds of Afghans protested outside a mosque in Kabul. The angered crowd chanted “Death to America” before publicly burning the United States flag. Many politicians now fear that the nation’s goal of creating peace in the Middle East has been jeopardized by Mr Jones’ outrageous behaviour.

One angered Muslim said: “The western world is blind to the actions of its corrupt leaders. America was built on a racial genocide. They are the only country that has never been brought to justice for their world crimes.

“They raped Africa for diamonds and gold and killed over 100 million people during the slave trade. Babies are still being born with radioactive diseases in Japan to this day after America wiped out whole cities with its nuclear weapons. In Afghanistan, just like in Vietnam many people are starving because the country is unable to produce enough vegetation because America destroyed the country’s crops by blasting it with napalm but you will never see this in the media! All of this and they have the audacity to call Muslims evil and call us terrorists.

“It’s about time Britain’s journalists did a little investigation into who was funding the I.R.A and supplying them with the weapons that killed hundreds of women and children in England’s major cities. It was America!

“They are a parasite. Now they have raped Africa for all their natural resources and destroyed the whole continent they are trying to do the same thing in the Middle East over oil but we are not just going to sit back and take it!

“It saddens me to think that the media has brainwashed a whole nation into believing that this is a “just war”. So many people are blind to what is really going on.”

Other members of Liverpool’s Islamic community believe the media is being used by the government to prepare people for war.

Mr Bilal Khan, 21 said: “The media want people to believe its ok to kill Muslims – they want to recreate the crusades. That is why in all Hollywood franchise films the bad guy will always be played by someone from the Middle East to paint us in a bad light.

“Children are playing war games on their Playstation‘s where they are fighting against Arabs. These games are being made to desensitise children to killing Muslims. The government are preparing them for war by using the same tactics as Hitler and Goebbels.”

The UK media is very bias – and the media stereotyping continue to fuel hatred. Many right-wing newspapers and media outlets such as the Telegraph, the Times and the Sun seem to be able to print what they like and are only ever made to print a small apology in the corner of the paper somewhere when they are proven wrong. The same techniques are being used when every young Black face or crime is gang related – but that’s for another write up.
