Urban Gathering, billed as the UK’s Biggest Urban Music Event, turned out to be Birmingham Biggest gun shoot out of the year! Shoots were fires as people ran scared for their life. Word outta road is dat a girl is dead, but this hasn’t been confirmed.
Police turned up the Urban Music Gathering at The Custard Factor in Birmingham just after 1am ti find four people had been shot! — Three men aged 20, 23 and 25 and a 25-year-old woman all suffered bullet wounds.
They were taken to hospital and were receiving treatment but there was no immediate word on their condition. Word outta street is dat the gal was shot dead after being shot in the leg, and a man was shot in his hand.
One man at the rave said: “I was just comin in when all the fuckry started, all I seen was a gyals high heel go awol cuz she was tryin to get off.”
A female raver at the event went on to say:
“I had to take off my shoes to run for my life. All I heard was ‘PAP PAP’, people were running from everywhere. It was like the whole of the people were runnin and were gon crush me, I knew the shoes had to go.
“The thing is aswell, cos there were man everywhere – its like I was runnin rite into the mix up!.
“I was scared for my life!”
The Urban Gathering brought together some of the UK’s biggest urban promoters for the 2nd annual event following a successful 2009 event attended by over 3,000 people at the same venue.
There is ber talk on social networking sites with numerous comments from people who were on the event. People seem to say there was a lack of Police presence at the event, which could have cost a young woman her life. A similar event called Grime Nation was held at Custard Factory recently and similar trouble locked off the event.
Anger seems to be pointed towards the security at the venue as people are wondering how a gun could have got into the venue after people were searched with a metal detector. If a plastic glock is run under a metal detector, it would be very hard to find. If the door is rushed, people wouldn’t have got searched – guns are easily got into the venue!
Supatrax were planing on having it’s relaunch summer event at the Custard Factory after we had spoke to the venue manager to discuss our requirements. We were told that any booking had to be checked by the police, so we know the Police must have known about the event – so why weren’t they there?
West Midlands Police, Detective Inspector Tom Chisholm said: “We know a large number of people were there and we are appealing for them to contact the police urgently with any information they may have.
“All gun crime is treated seriously and we want to reassure the local community we will have a team of officers this morning working on the incident and increased patrols in the area.”
Police are carrying out forensic examinations at the scene and will be examining close-circuit TV footage.
Keep it locked to Supatrax for further information.
