Cody Kahmar’s had ‘Sex in the City’ but now it’s his ‘Last Time’
Cody Kahmar is smashing the scene with his mellow flow and feel good tracks, but his latest release has more of an uptempo ‘Daft Punk’ kinda flow. . . It may even have a little ‘Get Lucky’ sample in it! His range of skills is crazy and his videos are raw and some could say ‘racey’.

Singer/songwriter Cody Kahmar is poised to emerge as one of the music industry’s most raw, unmarked vocalists of gen-Y. Inspired by the pure art form of music, Cody draws inspiration from many genres including Rock, Jazz, Pop, Hip Hop, and R&B, but the young Philly native best describes his sound as “feel good music.”
Cody cultivated his musical prowess growing up listening to everything across the board from rock and heavy metal bands like Poison, White Snake, and Incubus, along with Pop and R&B stars like Usher and Boyz II Men, helped Cody hone a fusion of talent and sound all his own. Initially hitting the airwaves with the mellow heart-felt ‘take me back’ anthem entitled “Hear My Call,” Cody followed up with the uber-sexy mid-tempo single, “Sex in the City,” which was accompanied by an even edgier lyric video that urged women to push the envelope on their sexual freedom. The sex in the City video is something that I would LOVE to have been involved with . . . Be warned the video, is ‘very steamy!’.
Raised in a small Philadelphia town as the youngest of three boys, and older brother of one baby sister, Cody’s love affair with music was early onset. Hearing his parents blasting 80’s Rock and Jazz is what he remembers most about his childhood infatuation with his craft, but it wasn’t until his late teens that Cody would ultimately put his love for singing into perspective. He admits music was often an outlet for him to escape the harsh street life, from which he would eventually turn over a new leaf. After being laid off from his day job in the midst of humble beginnings, a friend recognized his talent and introduced him to a producer. He began to network throughout the regional music scene and quickly made a name for himself rocking the Philly open mic circuit. His live performances earned him the title of local celebrity and created the opportunity to pursue his dream at the next level. Get on YouTube and you’ll see a range of cover versions his done and they prove that this guy is as good live as what he is recorded!
Cody has graced the stage with standout performances on his way to the top. In 2011, Cody opened up for hip hop headliner Kid Cudi (also star of HBO’s How to Make it in America) in front of a sold-out crowd of 8,000 at Temple University’s homecoming. This performance led to heightened buzz and airplay for his song “My Eyes,” a collaboration with popular West Philly rapper Chill Moody. “My Eyes” was also featured on over 100 blogs and received over 25,000 YouTube views in less than three months. During 2012, Cody performed in the company of chart toppers Brandy, Elle Varner, and Kendrick Lamar in the Annual Global Fusion Festival; additionally appearing on NBC’s 10! Spot TV show. Cody continues to win over tough crowds this year at Power 99 FM’s ‘Peace on the Streets’ concert and notorious live music venue SOB’s in New York.
One of his favourite quotes that defines the philosophy he lives by is “Success is not final, failure is not fatal. It’s the courage to continue that counts.” – Winston Churchill. Cody is reaching for the very top, as he persists to reach and gain more fans, become an even more polished musician and performer, and carve his niche into the music industry.
Cody Kahmar is definitely a name you will soon see in bright lights. Cody Kahmar is one to watch.
