Patoranking 'The Nigerian Beenie Man' makes 'Daniella Whine'
Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie, better known by his stage name 'Patoranking', is a Nigerian reggae-dancehall singer and songwriter, considered as some as the 'Nigerian Beenie Man'. His new release break the adfrobeats mould and throws down a danacehall flavour that sure to buss the place this summer.
Patoranking, who descends from Ebonyi in the East of Nigeria, started his musical career doing underground collaborations with artists such as XProject, Konga, Slam and Reggie Rockstone. He signed a record deal with K-Solo's Igberaga Records in 2010, releasing "Up in D Club" under the outfit.
Patoranking became a protégé of Dem Mama Records after collaborating with Timaya on his song "Alubarika".
In February 2014, he signed a record deal with Foston Musik and released "Girlie O", a single that put him in the limelight.
In the UK Patoranking has been building steady support over the last year, championed by key tastemakers such as Edu, 1Xtra (Patoranking is one of his 2015 Top 5 picks) and Abrantee, Capital Xtra and recently being featured on the 1Xtra A-listed "Murda" Remix single by Seyi Shay.
The video for this smashing hit single "Daniella Whine", premiered by MTV Base Africa at the beginning of April, features a lot of energetic dance steps from the dancers, including the cameo appearances of some Nigerian artistes e.g. Terry G, and was shot in Lagos and directed by the popular video director Clarence Peters.
