Robbed, gun butt and threw in a skip.
Five yutes aged 14, 15, two aged 16 and one aged 17 have admitted a charge of robbery at Birmingham Crown Court after putting a gun to another yute from a rival gang. They also made him strip naked, punched him up repeatedly and threw him in a skip after robbing him, in Birmingham city centre. The event was videoed on a phone and shows the suspects committing the crime and laughing. The video was later forwarded to the victims family.
The 15-year-old also admitted possessing two imitation firearms. They were all sentenced to detention.
The video is one of the most degrading videos that Supatrax has ever witnessed. It shows the victim getting punched up, made to strip and humiliated in the centre of Birmingham, just yards away from the world famous Bull Ring shopping centre. The attackers put a gun to his head and rob him. Then the sole intention is to make this boy look a fool and send a clear signal to their rival gang members, dat this could happen to them as well.
The men in court filmed the attack on a phone, then sent a clip to his sister, the court heard. David Jones, prosecuting, said the youngster was assaulted a month after Bang Bang crew, from Handsworth, made a video “disrespecting” dead members of Slash, from Aston, Newtown, Erdington and Nechells.
The victim aged 15 went to school in Handsworth, but can not be named for legal reasons.
Mr Jones, prosecuting, said the victim had never been in a street gang when he was attacked on October 17 2009. He was surrounded by 13 youths while he was in the Bullring. They took his mobile then marched him to the back of McDonald’s on High Street, where he was told to strip. A gun was put to his neck.
A Supatrax source said:
"The bwoy was in a Bang Bang video reppin dem man, an he got caught slippin - simple.
"Yo, if ya wanna stand up there sayin fuk Slash, blah, blah blah - Den dat whats gonna happen to ya.
"Personally, I think it's fukry, but hey, dats what happens - LOL!"
The victim of the attack is not one of the main people in the video, but he is there in the background, and through association he ended up getting attacked.
Supatrax then asked the question - "But what sumthin like dat was to happen to you blud? - Dat's fully outta order!?" He replied:
"Yo blud, I'm not in videos calling up people's name. If da geeza wants to get involved, he has just tek the consequences.
"Fuk it, he shouldn't have been in the video - end of subject."
The video was posted on YouTube the day after the attack, but West Midlands Police later got the video removed. It is believed that the police were able to make arrests through the uploading of the YouTube video. Supatrax also understand that arrests were made as a result of other teenagers having the video footage on their phone.
Although the video was removed from YouTube, it is still being Blutoothed via phones across Birmingham.
The prosecutor in court went on to say:
“He (the victim) was convinced he was going to be killed,” said Mr Jones.
In the video you see a gun being put to the victim's neck and the boy is made to strip down to his vest with his boxers and trousers round his ankles. The attackers do not mask up, or try to hide their identities. He is then punched repeatedly in the face, kicked in his tings and told to get into the skip with the rest of the rubbish or he would be shot.
He was then told to say some derogative things about Bang Bang and B19, but the victim lay helplessly in the skip of rubbish. Someone ws then heard to say to the camera, this is what happens to you when you fuk wid Slash (or something similar).
The attack was terrible - a bag a man surrounding one yute and then the yute must of feared for his life. The video is totally out of order and highlights how far the yutes willing to go to rep their ends. The boy was fully degraded and all cus he was associated with a rival crew - he weren't even on of the top man, but by being in the video, he was involved.
This attack sends out a clear message that if you are involved in the crew ting, no matter how - you can become the victim! Sometimes you might not know that you friend or neighbour etc. is associated with a gang or crew, but be clear of one thing - You have no place in a video if your not involved in any way. Know who you are hanging around with, and know when to distance yourself from people.
The fact that people were arrested and charged because they were there, even if they didn't have the strap or box up the bwoy. Also sends out a clear message, that you are guilty through association - and that's the same message the the feds and the gangs seem to be portraying.
Below is a short video for The Community Channel about Birmingham inner city life. (Short continues below).
Mr Jones (prosecuting) said the teenager did not tell anyone about the attack. But his “horrified” mother contacted the police after her daughter was sent the footage to her phone.
The names of the attackers can not be revealed for legal reasons, but the 17-year-old, one of the 16-year-olds and the 15-year-old were sentenced to detention for at least two years each. The other 16-year-old was sentenced to four years detention and the 14-year-old to three years detention.
Speaking after sentencing Detective Inspector Warren Hines of West Midlands Police said investigations were continuing because another teenager was believed to be involved.
