Man fights for life after stabbing - 29.03.2010
A man is fighting for his life after being stabbed in the chest in Smethwick.
The victim, 21, was attacked outside Vibe nightclub in Smethwick in the early hours last night.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said he was taken from the club, on Summit Crescent Industrial Estate, to hospital by car shortly after 4am.His condition was described as "life threatening".
Detective Inspector Gary Dring said: "It's likely the victim had been in the club during the evening, he was waiting outside in the street when he was approached from behind.
"We'd like to hear from anyone who may have been at Vibe nightclub last night, or anyone with information about the attack, to contact us."Anyone with information should contact Smethwick CID on 0845 113 5000 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
The victim was dropped off at hospital in a private vehicle and police are also appealing for the driver of the car, or any passengers, to come forward to assist with enquiries.
