Birmingham got shut down for the 1xtra Live event at the NIA on Saturday 15 November 2014.  The line-up for the annual event included live performances from ‘The Queen of R&B’ – Mary J Blige, Maybach Music’s hip hop boss - Rock Ross, as well as UK favourites; Krept & Konan, Fuse ODG, Boy Better Know, Lethal B, Jess Glyne, Sigma and Tinashe as well as extra special guests on the night.

On 26th November Yasmin Alibhai-Brown will discuss the need to put race back on the political and public agenda and consider why, more broadly, there is a lack of strong leadership within the field of race. Her talk will examine why areas such as feminism or environmentalism are characterized by strong leadership, undaunted activism and supportive voices yet the area of race is lacking in comparison.

Straight off the back of the hugely successful Oliva Tweest Afrobeat Musical Production at the Hackney Empire the leading lady and star of the show Vicky Sola releases her debut Single 'OMG (Oh My Gosh)' to the public. With a debut EP/Album release scheduled in the first quarter of 2015, the AfroBrit sensation decided to give her fans a taste of what's to come.

One of Jamaica's most beloved singers Etana teams with the island's esteemed director Ras Kassa for her new video "Richest Girl," which premiered this week online with MTV Iggy and on her native country's network program Hype TV. The romantic single is off her fourth studio album I Rise, to be released October 27, 2014 on VP Records.

The Birmingham Grime scene is recognised in this year's MOBO Awards, with UK Grime and hip hop sensations leading the way with 15 nominations and the introduction of the new category for MOBO Best Grime!

Jam TV is a new dedicated Caribbean National UK TV channel available on Freesat and Sky TV launched by London based organisation 'Caribbean Media House'.

The Birmingham Mail recently did a feature on popular words a Brummie would use. We were shocked as you wouldn't hear anyone outta road using most of the words they listed. Supatrax decided to take a look at some of the words and interpretate them to how people really talk in the inner city second city. The Birmingham Mail wrote: "Birmingham and the Black Country are well known for their own accents, dialects and expressions." . . .  Well, Supatrax wants to look at some of the words we're supposed to be using in the second largest city in the UK and learn how to talk proppa, or should we say: 'Correctly'.

Throwback Thursday . . . Sacha Brookes (Galaxy FM) held an event once a month with her promotion team - Team RAW. Chi Bar became a night of Urban Flavas with a mix of Galaxy DJays and top UK R&B Dj's. The night was nice - Good Vibes, no trouble and plenty of pretty ass ladies. The venue had 3 floors - but it seemed as if it was someones house that had been converted . . . and what the hek was a Jacuzzi doing in the corner of a club?
